Social Security Cuts., SAY NO! Sign the petition

Stopping Social Security Cuts

Hi,

This Fall, Congress could vote on Social Security cuts proposed by the conservative-leaning Fiscal Commission. Republicans - and some Democrats - are already saying they want to cut benefits by raising the retirement age. We need to act now, before the election, to make sure we keep cuts off the table.

I signed a promise to oppose Social Security cuts . We need to send a crystal clear message to Congress - can you join me?

Vehicle homicide...Why is he still here?

Virginia in the news again.

Carlos Abraham Martinelly Montano, age 23, plowed his car into the car of 3 nuns in Bristow, Virginia, killing one and injuring the other two.

At the ripe young age of 23, Carlos has been in the courts no less than 6 times for things like DUI, drunk in public, driving without a license, (read this interesting history of this fine gentleman in Black Velvet Bruce Li), and even being sent to ICE and let go by them pending court proceedings!

So this past Sunday morning, Carlos was still able to be driving around drunk again and smashing his car into the vehicle of Sister Denise Mosier, O.S.B., Sister Charlotte Lange, O.S.B., and Sister Connie Ruth Lupton, O.S.B., killing Sister Denise and injuring the rest.

How many times does an illegal immigrant have to be arrested before he is kicked out of the country?

What makes this even sadder is we’ve been through this before, and it’s still happening.

Any American citizens would have been tried and punished for this vehicular death and would have served time for such actions.

Time is almost up...what will he do?

Obama Voters Singing Another Tune!

Wow! I have never seen so many Obama voters disappointed in what their elected leader is doing and has done since he took office. It may have taken a while for them to open their eyes and wake up to the truth but NOW they can see what a mistake they made....
To prove my point just read what one of his devoted voters is saying now.

Bet you can't guess who got all that money? It sure wasn't the ones who needed it!

Thu Mar 4, 9:47 am ET

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – A measure to give some 57 million elderly people, veterans and persons with disabilities a $250 check was rejected by the Senate on Wednesday, a setback for the powerful seniors' lobby.

President Barack Obama has called for Congress to approve the payments to make up for their benefits not increasing this year, but the Senate defeated it 50 to 47.

The payments would have added $13 billion to a $108 billion job-creation package pending in the Senate.

Congress approved payments last year as part of the $862 billion stimulus package.

Social Security payments for the elderly and disabled will stay flat this year for the first time since 1975 because they are tied to consumer prices, which decreased amid the worst economic recession in 70 years.

That follows a year in which payments rose by 5.8 percent, largely due to a spike in gasoline prices.

"It is wrong to turn our backs on seniors in this moment of economic difficulty," said Independent Senator Bernie Sanders, who sponsored the amendment.

But Republican Senator Judd Gregg pointed out that the bill would defeat the purpose of indexing Social Security payments to inflation.

"The law says it shouldn't be given," Gregg said.

At least 10 Democrats agreed with Gregg and joined 40 Republicans to defeat the proposal.

So where did the money go??? To government employees, of course. Even though the Board of Labor said NO ONE should get a cost of living raise they gave themselves a hefty COL raise...Those who made $75,000 per year for doing nothing got a raise to $150,000 for doing nothing, while the elderly are left to decide "do I buy food or medication?" How long will they survive without either of them??? Or is this what they had planned? No food or no medication, either choice will be sure death and get rid of those who have to live on the meager amounts of money doled out each month.
Then there will be more for them (the government employees) to put in their pockets.....
Don't they realize that the Social Security money belongs to the people, Yes it is theirs, the citizens, and it was paid into the SS reserve which was taken from them while they worked. Withheld from their paychecks, same as it is today. The interest alone should cover the small amount of $250 each. It's a well known fact that only about10% to 25% (if that) of the people who paid into the SS will ever get to claim any of THEIR rightful money. Not to ask what will become of the money that is being taken out of every working man or womans wages today! Will they ever get one dime of it back?

Healthcare, who's in charge?

The Obama Administration offers a plan to revive healthcare reform ahead of a key summit with Republicans.

If not Socialism, what is it?

U.S. President Barack Obama launched a vigorous defense of his economic agenda on Wednesday, rejecting critics who call his policies "socialism". So what should we call it???

Federal Reserve Begins To Withdraw $2.2 Trillion

Federal Reserve Begins To Withdraw $2.2 Trillion From American Economy

The Federal Reserve Board faces a delicate task. Having pumped $2.2 trillion into the economy to fight the recession, it must start pulling that money back. It would have to sop up over half of that liquidity to get back to pre-recession levels.

The problem: Do it too quickly and the Fed might cut off or curtail the recovery. Wait too long and risk setting off a punishing round of inflation.

Ben Bernanke, as Fed chairmen typically do, gave only vague hints as to how he would accomplish that. In testimony never delivered to Congress because of this week’s blizzard but released anyway, it was clear that whatever the central bank does, interest rates are going up.

False Statements or just plain old LIES?

There are more people losing their jobs every day, losing their homes, and most are losing the faith they have in America. Even those who are receiving unemployment are finding it hard to get by or be able to afford gas to look for another job. My question is ...just when in the hell do the people get a decent break? Men who made $500+ a week only get $275 a week in unemployment??? That wont pay for rent and insurance on a car nor for food and gas....While the politicians give themselves a cost of living raise that they don't need, Older people who are trying to live on $600 a month from their Social Security got nothing...The rules must be different for the rich, they just get more and more while the little man dies from lack of food or medication. We were better off when Bush was in office. I say impeach the bastard and get rid of the crooks he has brought in to Washington D.C.

Aware that his healthcare push is generating some opposition in Massachusetts, Obama made little mention of his top domestic priority, choosing instead to emphasize Brown's opposition to the bank tax.

But the fact is that Obama's healthcare overhaul could be slowed if Brown wins since the Republican has vowed to vote against it.

DEMOCRATS COULD LOSE SENATE SUPERMAJORITY

By losing the Massachusetts seat, Democrats would lose their 60-vote supermajority, hampering their ability to cut off debate and proceed to a vote. They could resort to tactics to pass it by a simple majority, but that strong-arm route would carry some political risks.
